About the producer:
Tadesse Edema comes from a family deeply invested in coffee farming in the Guji region and has been managing the processing and export of specialty Guji coffee since 1996. He runs the Tome washing station in the Uraga Woreda - his brothers own washing stations in Guji Shakisso and Guji Kercha.
The Tome washing station is located an a ridge adjacent to the Tabe Murka washing station (where this coffee’s companion lot that we bought was processed at). Coffee is collected from smallholder cooperative members within a 10 kilometer radius of the mill. The coffee is cleaned and sorted and the cherry is left intact. It takes 16 to 18 days on raised beds to dry the coffee to a point that it's ready to be prepared for export.
This coffee marks a new journey for our partners at Odyssey Coffee Importers (producer/exporter/importer of Finca Ayutepeque), that we are grateful to be apart of. They partnered with Belco, a french coffee distributor, to find traceable, quality Ethiopian coffees that match the work they do in El Salvador. This is there first season to actually import and the coffee is a testament to the success of the project.
