Konyu Factory in Kirinyaga County is one of ten sites owned by the Kabare Farmers' Cooperative Society. The Konyu factory is named after the natural spring located near the factory. This spring also provides the water for coffee processing. The factory's 1100 farmer members grow their coffee in the area's mineral-rich volcanic soil alongside subsistence crops including bananas, corn and sweet potatoes. The farmers bring their red coffee cherries to the factory where they are hand-sorted, washed in fresh spring water and dried in the sun on raised beds. We hope you enjoy this Kenyan gem!
